Thanks Foxy!!!

Your asian inspriation has inspired me to defrost some pork chops from the freezer and start a liquid love juice for them to bath in for the day! Tamari soy sauce, ginger honey, maple syrup (cause i am cooking for two quebecers), a little sambal, dried oregano and thyme and I don't have any toasted sesame oil BUT sesame seeds toasted and sprinkled on top for the finishing in the oven will do just fine! Off to the store soon for the veggies.......hmmmmm I wonder what will be there?
Made some more spelt bread and double chocolate cookies!
It is Nicolie Gras on friday and I am thinking about a mexican festia for the night!!! Little Taco Pescado, Pollo Asado, Tequila......this could be fun!

Let's eat and the renovations begin!

Jonathan has left to pick up his dad and I am getting the house ready. Dinner tonight is on my mind this early in the morning........the meat will be beef....and the rest will come to me as the day goes on. On sunday we start tearing off the roof, and when I say roof, the whole thing trusses and all are coming down. A second floor will be added and I will be cooking breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for everyone who shows up to lend a hand! (And there will be beer and wine and maybe some tequila, for me). Pollo Asado will be for sure one night and a beautiful venison roast and....pulled pork sandwiches on fresh spelt bread, cookies, ohhh I can go on like this forever...but we shall see what comes, less typing more cooking!!

Fresh Organic Sunny Days!!!

Time to get that garden going. I need dirt, lots of dirt!!!!

Made some spelt and rye bread the other day and although I am not a bread expert, everytime is getting better. This time I really worked on kneading the bread and keeping it moist by not adding flour after I brought the mixture together. It turned out great with a little sea salt on the top.
Jo got his favorite of Pate Chinoix,Shepard's Pie with our local beef in the freezer and we are trying to not spend money and use what we have so the topping was a medley of sweet potato, potato, parsnips, carrots, garlic, yams. I peeled the parsnip and carrots and left the skins (as always) on the potatoes for their goodness and nutritional benefits. Talk about using up the veggies. We had this with salad and loved every bite! Forgot to take pictures of dinner so you can use your imagination!!!

The potato, as well as the skin, is a great source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, copper, potassium, manganese, and dietary fiber. Potatoes and potato skins contain 18% of the recommended daily allowance of iron and 7.5 grams of protein, which is rarely found in vegetables in such high concentrations. Potato skins also contain a variety of phytonutrients, which are a natural source of antioxidants that help to prevent cellular deterioration of the body. The phytonutrients found in potatoes include carotenoids, flavonoids, and caffeic acid.

Keep sending me the questions and I will help as much as I can.
Have great day and talk to you soon!!!

Back to the house last night after a great staff party at for Mica Heli Guides. Do you have any questions about anything you are about to cook?

RED NECK!!!

What does a redneck eat?? Road kill, the old dog, a menacing cat, vegetables from the neighbours garden.....what are vegetables? We are having our redneck staff party at work today and we have to dress like rednecks.....are we going to eat like them as well. Grill some squirrel over a toilet bbq? How do I dress like a redneck, online all the girls are kind of trampy looking and I was hoping for a distinct redneck girl look....we shall see what happens.

As for yesterdays fare, breaky was fresh eggs from my friends chickens scrambled with cheese, onions, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic, tomatoes on the last of the spelt bread. Dinner was t-bone steak, with salad, roasted sweet potatoes, yams, onions tossed in balsamic, with cumin, dried basil, rosemary and SALT, don't forget to salt!!!!! We also had locally picked mushrooms that were dried, morels, chantrels, lobster mushrooms reduced in wine and some blue cheese....yeah dinner was good! Then we talked about the food that was going to come out of the garden that we built yesterday!!! Good times!!!!!

Have a fabulous day!!

EAT WELL!

same same same......

Same dinner tonight as last.......
Here is the fun part of the day!!! I made two dyes for the wood that is going to be used on the raised bed in the backyard for garden of delight! The first one was made out of turmeric and the second one out of coffee. Tons of fun and they worked great, I will post pictures when finished! The best part for me was the fact that nothing used was toxic to the environment and I was able to dump the unusables in the compost bin. Next one is making red, green, blue and see what happens!
Have a fabulous day!!!
