As much as I support the local food movement, how can anyone resist a container of fresh figs? Just the thought of finding them again makes my mouth water. Someday a fig tree will find itself planted in the yard and then local figs will be eaten. Until then I will fully enjoy the fresh figs that I find and sink my teeth into.
Fig salad put the bounce in my step the other day and was enjoyed by all. Fresh mozzarella, tomatoes from the garden, pumpkin seeds, cucumbers from the garden on spinach. There were quite a few left so a fresh banana, fig and white chocolate loaf was made and shared among friends!

Mac N'Cheese.....
I love mac n' cheese, but of course made with love and additions!! One box of annie's mac and cheese. I make this and put it aside on a tray to cool. Then collecting items that are ready to eat from the garden and using up all the leftover cheese in the fridge as well as opening a nice bottle of wine. All vegetables are sauteed and then the mac and cheese is added back to the pan, cheese on top and broiled in the oven to melt and crisp up the cheese!
OH YEAH!
OH YEAH!

Fall is here...
Waking up to the fresh brisk morning of the first day of fall, I can't help but feel like root vegetables and some fabulous fall fare. Today will be a day of potatoes as there is a bowl on the porch waiting to be turned into something tasty.
Soup, salad, gnocchi, mashed, twice baked, roasted, rosti........the possibilities are endless and my hunger grows with each dish that is envisioned.
What would you like to eat? Is your craving based on the changing season? What other potato ideas do you have or would you like to see or learn about? This is what I am here for and would love to help!
Have a magically delicious day!

Cooking at home!!!
My favorite place to cook....my kitchen!
Yesterday for lunch was mediterranean wraps and a spaghetti squash and acorn squash soup. Dinner was a venison shoulder, Moroccan style with carrots, beans and mashed potatoes.....my favorite was the sauce which was the juices of the venison infused with grapes, fresh BC peaches and some fresh basil and parsley from my garden. OHHH YEAH! I even had someone who had not eaten meat for 10 years have venison last night!! It really makes a difference to know where your meat comes from....it does for me anyway! Dessert was from peach pie and made for those who like a raw diet, the crust was dried dates, slightly toasted almonds and coconut and the top was just fresh peaches.....easy to make....great to eat!
For today there will be some spicy, sweet and sour yellow lentil soup with some salad and bread!!! Dinner is looking like a vegetable curry with some marinated organic chicken skewers and paneer and veggie skewers......naan bread....dessert is still being sorted out!!!
I will try to remember to take more pictures as I forget once things have started!!

HOME SWEET HOME
Finally home and ready to dig into the garden to get all that is good into my belly! So far 10lbs of potatoes have been pulled and are happily being eaten. It is amazing to me, how after baking a potato and cooling it when finished then just eating "as is" with no additions like salt, cheese....nothing and they are amazing the flavour on its own is incredible......grow it yourself and eat your garden!!!!
Beans, Beets, Tomatoes, Kale, Corn, Parsnips, Carrots, Potatoes, Peppers, Celeriac, Lettuce.....bring it on!!!
Home is where I plan to stay for awhile and get back to this so that we can all share our ideas, food pleasures and favorite seasonal fares!
Talk to you soon!
